Geospatial Science

The Geospatial Science department provides specialized course work for students who seek training in geographic information systems, digital cartographic techniques, geospatial technologies, and their applications; and for students seeking a solid background in geospatial science in preparation for careers in geoinformatics or environmental and regional planning and management. The major, which offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree, focuses on GIS; geospatial analysis methods; and land use, population distribution, watershed management, and other natural resources management issues. Technical strengths include geographic information systems (GIS), digital cartographic techniques, and digital image processing as well as field research methods.
