B.F.A. Degree with Studio Art Concentration
The Bachelor of Fine Arts program provides a comprehensive education for the professional artist and prepares students for entry into Master of Fine Arts degree programs. A portfolio review for all Bachelor of Fine Arts students is administered each academic year during spring semester by a Department of Art faculty jury. Bachelor of Fine Arts students must satisfactorily complete the annual portfolio review with a minimum score of 2.5. All students, including students who transfer into the B.F.A. Program from other degree options and transfer students, must pass the portfolio review the year before they graduate to be eligible to participate in the exit review. To be eligible for the degree, a student must earn a satisfactory score of 2.5 or more in an exit review consisting primarily of work in the student’s area of specialization. After passing an exit review, the student will then hang the work in the B.F.A. exhibition. The Art Department faculty will give final approval/disapproval after the B.F.A. exhibition is hung. B.F.A. art majors choose a studio art concentration or a graphic design concentration. If they choose studio, they then specialize in either two-dimensional (2-D) or three-dimensional (3-D) art.
Within these areas of concentration, each student may choose to specialize in the medium of his or her choice: painting, watercolor, drawing, jewelry and metalworking, ceramics, or photography. In addition to the specialization, students take courses in another studio area outside their area of concentration to complete their degree. All studio art majors must take a two-semester sequence designed to develop a senior project and prepare work intended specifically for the graduation show.
Students in any concentration within the art department must receive a grade of C or better in any course that counts toward the major.

* 3 hours of ART 215 or ART 216 are counted in the Core Curriculum Requirements, so only 3 hours may be counted as Core Art Courses. Studio Courses (30 credits)
- Eighteen semester hours of studio courses in area of concentration (either 2-D or 3-D).* (18 credits)
Within this area of concentration, the students must select an area of specialization and take at least 12 of the 18 hours in that specialization. Two dimensional areas of specialization include drawing (drawing must include 6 hours beyond the core requirement of 12 hours of drawing), painting, watercolor, and photography. Three-dimensional areas of specialization include ceramics, jewelry and metal working.
- Twelve semester hours of studio courses not in area of concentration and not . (12 credits)
3 annual Portfolio reviews are required and a senior exit review
Must pass the reviews with a 2.5 or higher; must earn a C or better in all Art courses

B.F.A. Degree with Graphic Design Concentration
The Bachelor of Fine Arts program with a Graphic Design concentration provides a comprehensive education for student graphic designers and prepares them for success in this challenging career field. All students in the BFA in Graphic Design are required to undergo annual portfolio reviews during the spring semester with a review conducted by a Department of Art faculty jury. Students transferring from other schools with the proper prerequisites will be required to present a portfolio and, upon receiving a passing score, will be eligible to take upper level courses. Those students who fall below the minimum requirements may retake courses, resubmit their portfolio the following semester, or change their majors. Requirements for the graduating senior consist of both a final portfolio review and a Graphic Design exhibition. Department faculty will give final approval/disapproval after the exhibition is hung.
A laptop with appropriate Adobe software is required (student pricing available).
Students in any concentration within the art department must receive a grade of C or better in any course that counts toward the major.
