Students pursuing a Foreign Languages major choose the Modern Foreign Languages Concentration.
Core Curriculum Requirements (43-45 credits)
In College Core B, all majors in programs in the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences are required to pass a second course in Social and Behavioral Sciences; i.e., CHBS majors cannot fulfill College Core B requirements with a Health and Wellness course.
Modern Foreign Language Concentration
Required Courses (30 credits)
Majors must choose one of the following:
30 semester hours with at least 24 hours above the intermediate level of French, which must include FREN 361 or FREN 362, and at least one course on the 400 level;
30 semester hours with at least 24 hours above the intermediate level of German, which must include at least one course on the 400 level;
30 semester hours with at least 24 hours above the intermediate level of Spanish, which must include SPAN 320 and at least two courses on the 400 level.
B.S. Requirements (30 - 39)
Foreign Language Majors (French, German, and Spanish concentrations) who wish to earn licensure (certification) to teach must take the indicated courses in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. Additional requirements include courses in the College of Education and Human Development (see below) and passing scores on the VA DOE mandated exams:

Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Test (Mathematics)
Praxis II World Language: Content Knowledge exam
Students must graduate with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75. The licensure option satisfies the additional minor and/or major requirement associated with all Foreign Language majors at Radford University.
