SOWK 710 - Women and Mental Health Credits: (3) Instructional Method: Three hours lecture and discussion. Prerequisites: Graduate standing or permission of instructor. This course is designed to provide students with specific knowledge about clinical social work practice with adult women and mental health issues that affect women. Key themes and concepts include: historical social work practice with women, theories for mental health practice and a feminist critique of those theories, feminist practice issues, aspects of feminist/mental health practice, feminist social work practice methods and current issues/situations that affect women’s lives and their mental health. Mental Health emphasis area elective.
