NURS 421 - Promoting Health in the Community Credits: (4) Instructional Method: Four hours lecture. Prerequisites: NURS 327 or NURS 361 . Provides a foundation for health education, health promotion, and nursing practice in community health. Topics include health promotion, environmental health, epidemiology, care of family as client, care of community as client, care of vulnerable populations, contemporary problems in community health nursing, genetic and genomic factors affecting health of individuals and families, and settings for community health nursing practice. Students apply concepts of cultural competence, health promotion, and health education to population health.
