COSD 640 - Advanced Practicum in Speech-Language-Hearing Credits: Variable credit, 1-9 hours. Prerequisites: Admission to COSD Graduate program. A clinical practicum course involving principles and methods of prevention, assessment and intervention for people with communication and swallowing disorders; including consideration of anatomical/physiological, psychological, developmental, linguistic and cultural correlates of disorders of articulation, fluency, voice and resonance, receptive and expressive language, hearing, swallowing and cognitive and social aspects of communication.Discussion of contemporary professional and legal issues, the Code of Ethics of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) with focus on requirements for certification, specialty recognition, and state licensure.
