AHPT 800 - Human Anatomy

Instructional Method: The format of the course may include but is not limited to lecture, gross anatomy cadaveric dissection, laboratory model studies, small group and cooperative learning experiences to explore “living anatomy.”
Prerequisites: Admission to the doctor of physical therapy program or permission of the Department.
This course begins with foundational concepts in vertebrate embryology and development, as well as connective tissue histology. Upon that foundation an in-depth regional study of the human body emphasizing musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary systems plus gross surface anatomy features is methodically explored. You will examine structural interrelationships as a basis for normal function, explore the anatomical foundations of the movement system and examine how anatomical principles inform clinical reasoning.
