HIST 339 - History of Scotland from William Wallace to the Present (EU) (WI) Credits: (3) Instructional Method: Three hours lecture. A general survey of the history of Scotland since the Middle Ages. Scotland’s rich history saw it struggle and thrive both as an independent kingdom and as a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, saw it repeatedly riven by conflict between and within the Highlands and the Lowlands, and saw it eventually develop and sustain a unique identity characterized by kilts, tartans, bagpipes, and haggis.
