NURS 830 - Doctor of Nursing Practice Clinical Residency Within the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Concentration Credits: (1-12 variable) Instructional Method: Clinical Prerequisites: NURS 760 , NURS 761 NURS 762 NURS 765 NURS 764 or Permission of Faculty This is the course work required for the DNP Clinical Residency. The DNP Clinical Residency is a clinical leadership experience focusing on nursing education, policy, practice, and/or research within an area of student interest. Per the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), this course is required for the Doctorate of Nursing (DNP) Clinical Residency and is offered to students who are enrolled as DNP degree-seeking students at Radford University.
The DNP Clinical Residency is an immersion clinical experience that includes in-depth work with experts from nursing and other disciplines. Advanced nursing practice experiences assist students in development and assimilation of complex clinical knowledge and decision-making. The residency provides the framework for the DNP Final Project in which the student identifies, develops, and implements a project of clinical or research interest that culminates in a well-written project, policy, or article suitable for publication.
