Differential Diagnosis/Imaging is designed for physical therapy students to further develop clinical reasoning skills based on patient/client chief concerns and/or results from imaging studies.  The course will use case study examples and imaging studies to develop skills to interpret relevant clinical findings using a process oriented approach to determine what is the most likely type and source of pathology or impairment. Students, as future direct access physical therapy providers, will learn how to improve communication and clinical decision making regarding whether physical therapy is indicated or if a referral is required with another healthcare provider.  Students will master the knowledge required for diagnostic imaging principles and techniques as they apply to physical therapy. Standard imaging procedures that will be addressed in the course include radiography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, computerized tomography scan, skeletal scintigraphy, and other  imaging procedures.
