SOWK 772 - Research II: Advanced Research Methodology Credits: (3) Instructional Method: Lecture Prerequisites: Admission to the graduate program in social work. SOWK 621 with a C or better or SOWK 679 with a B- or better. This second course in the MSW research sequence explores the dynamics of social work research, theory, and practice. It provides students with the knowledge base to stimulate critical use of research studies in their practice, prepares them for participation in agency or interprofessional research, and prepares them to undertake research in social work practice. Students will reflect on how their personal epistemologies affect their attitudes about and utilization of different research techniques. This course includes an emphasis on understanding how research has been used to perpetuate oppression and unequal access. Each student will carry out an independent project under the supervision of the instructor.
