RCPT 460 - Wilderness First Responder

Prerequisites: Major in Recreation, Parks and Tourism or Minor in Outdoor Recreation & Leadership or Conservation Law Enforcement.
In this certification course students will develop clinical judgment and decision-making for prolonged field care in remote environments. Students learn assessment, treatment, leadership, and evacuation strategies for managing injuries and illness when professional medical care is delayed. Emphasis is placed on structured patient assessment, problem solving with limited resources, prevention of incidents, and extended patient care in backcountry settings.

Note(s): Three hour lecture, three hour lab with field requirements for 72 contact hours. $180 course fee.
