PHYA 606 - Clinical Medicine I

Instructional Method: Four hours lecture.
The first in a sequence of four courses that will examine diseases and disorders commonly encountered in primary care practice. This course is designed to enable PA students to acquire and refine knowledge and skills necessary for effective, safe, and patient-centered management in the delivery of primary care to patients. An organ system approach will be used in conjunction with the MSPA course of study. Each disease or disorder will be analyzed in terms of epidemiology, pathophysiology, genetics and/or molecular mechanism, presenting signs and symptoms, physical exam findings, differential diagnosis, diagnostic studies, treatment and/or management, referral, patient education, and sequelae. Special attention will be given to the clinical application of information.
