PSYC 647 - Assessment and Treatment of People with Substance Use Disorders

Credits: (3)
Instructional Method: Three hours lecture.
Prerequisites: Admission into the Master of Science in Clinical Psychology program or by permission of instructor.
This course focuses on recognizing, identifying, assessing, and diagnosing individuals who may be misusing substances. Students will be introduced to the prevailing theories around addiction as well as frequent treatment modalities. Students will be encouraged to consult and integrate the current scientific literature on abuse and misuse of substances and validated treatment for substance misuse in treatment planning.
