This micro-credential provides you with resources and information from the last two decades of research on effective literacy instruction for all learners. You will review the research and then create your personal philosophy of literacy instruction to use in your own classroom. The intended audience for this micro-credential is all Elementary General Education and Special Education Teachers and the difficulty is low. This micro-credential is grounded in research from the following sources: What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) Practice Guides: Foundational Skills to Support Reading for Understanding in Kindergarten Through 3rd Grade; and the Report of the National Reading Panel: Teaching Children to Read; and the International Literacy Association.

Note(s): The course is designed and implemented by faculty and subject matter experts
associated with the School of Teacher Education and Leadership and/or the Vinod Chachra IMPACT Lab at Radford University. The faculty coordinator for the curriculum will be associated with the School of Teacher Education and Leadership.

There is no current or future anticipated need for additional facilities, equipment or supplies.

These courses use a pass/fail grading system. A passing grade for this micro-credential reflects the achievement equivalent of a grade of B or better.
