The Bachelor of Science in Physics offers an experiential, career-focused approach that integrates applied physics, astronomy, and real-world learning. Students develop strong technical and analytical skills through project-based coursework, research, internships, and community engagement, including opportunities to design and lead programs in the Radford University Planetarium, Selu Observatory, and K–12 Science Days.

The major includes a concentration in Applied Physics & Astronomy with three flexible, career-aligned pathways: Space Science & Astronomy; Applied Physics & Industry Applications; and Science Communication & Public Engagement; as well as a second concentration in Physics Secondary Science Education. Graduates are prepared for careers in industry, government, space science, STEM outreach and communication, and teaching middle and high school physics, as well as for graduate or professional study.

    Academic Minor

    To graduate with a minor, a student must have a 2.0 or higher GPA in all courses required for the minor, and should be officially registered for the minor at least one semester prior to graduation. Courses used to fulfill major or minor requirements cannot be used to fulfill concentrations or option requirements within Interdisciplinary Studies.
