B.S. Degree

*May also be used to satisfy Core Curriculum requirements. ECON majors cannot use both ECON 206 and ECON 205 to satisfy core requirements. B.S. Requirements (6-8 credits)
The Bachelor of Science degree requires six to eight semester hours of courses in specified areas outside the major, which the department chairperson must approve. Basic Concentration (15 credits)
This concentration requires additional 15 semester hours in economics electives. Students enrolled in the Economics BS degree program with the Basic Concentration, will take one course in each of the following three areas in order to have a broad understanding of economics as part of the fifteen hours:
Applied Microeconomics (3 credits)
Learning Objective: Students will be able to analyze how changes in economic variables affect decisions of firms, households, and equilibrium in markets. Applied Macroeconomics (3 credits)
Learning Objective: Students will be able to analyze how changes in macroeconomic variables (e.g., inflation, growth, employment) affect the national economy. International Economics (3 credits)
Learning Objective: Students will be able to analyze how changes in economic variables throughout the world affect the national economy. Electives (23-29 credits)
