Music Concentration Program Requirements 30 hrs.


Music Core Courses 9 hrs.


Required Music Courses 11 hrs.


Supporting Courses 10 hrs.


An additional 10 semester hours in supporting elective studies are to be determined in consultation between student and advisor. Any graduate level course may count towards the supporting courses as determined by the faculty advisor. Students electing the graduate recital must complete a minimum of four semester hours of credit beyond level eight in applied music. Students who elect to present a graduate recital in voice are expected to be proficient in French, German and Italian diction. A language examination in at least one modern foreign language is required for those who elect to write a thesis.

Final Comprehensive Exam and Final Thesis Defense:


All students who are completing the Master of Arts degree in Music are required to complete a final comprehensive exam. If a student has elected to complete the thesis option they are required to complete a final defense of their thesis in addition to their final comprehensive exam.
