Secondary Education


Students who seek licensure to teach in secondary schools (grades 6-12) complete an approved Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a specific major (math, social studies, science or English) and also complete the Secondary Education Licensure Option described below. Students seeking licensure requirements in secondary science (biology, chemistry, earth science, or physics) will complete their content area requirements at the undergraduate level and can choose to complete their licensure requirements at the graduate level. These requirements must be completed prior to being admitted to the Teacher Education Program.

Departmental courses in the student’s teaching endorsement content area, i.e., mathematics, English, and social studies are required in addition to the courses listed. Content area coursework must be completed prior to being admitted to the Teacher Education Program.
