Creative Writing Minor (E)

Shape stories, creative essays, poems, and plays; study craft; workshop your pieces; give and take feedback; and explore avenues for publication.

REAL Curriculum

This minor fulfills the E area of the REAL Curriculum. Students explore humanistic expression through both inquiry and creativity. The minor combines elements of a literary studies class (discussions, analyses, focus questions, logs) and a creative writing class (writing exercises, workshops, drafts, revisions). With the support of their instructor and peers, students develop the critical faculties necessary to assess poetry, prose, and drama (inquiry) and learn the techniques and elements fundamental to the production of their own original works of poetry, prose, and drama (creativity). Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the R, A, and L areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements.
