The minor in American Sign Language teaches communication competency in a visual language. Students become knowledgeable about aspects of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community and culture. For careers working with the public, this minor is beneficial for understanding and communicating with Deaf and hard-of-hearing people. This minor does not prepare students to interpret.
