Tourism and Special Events Minor (A, L)


The minor in Tourism and Special Events seeks to engage students through diverse learning opportunities including real-world projects, case studies, and creative assignments. It provides students with ample opportunities for experiential learning while developing their creativity and leadership skills. The minor aims to prepare students for future careers within the field, such as destination management organizations (DMOs), travel agencies and tour operators, event planning (conferences, weddings, festivals, etc.), hospitality management (hotels and restaurants), resort management, cultural and natural tourist attractions, amusement park and entertainment management.

REAL Curriculum


This minor fulfills the A and L areas of the REAL Curriculum. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the R and E areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements.

General Education Requirements


General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Tourism and Special Events minor includes 18 general education credits.
