Theory and Practice I is the first of two lecture and lab based courses designed to provide physical therapy students with a foundational understanding of therapeutic interventions used in physical therapy practice. This course will cover theory and clinical techniques for the safe use of biophysical agents and patient handling techniques including the relevant precautions and/or contraindications for each intervention. Course content includes an introduction to the use of thermal and non-thermal modalities including massage and patient handling skills related to transfer and gait training with focus on inpatient hospital based patient care skills.
