MUSC 554 - Piano Ensemble

Prerequisites: Piano Ensemble is for the most advanced pianists who already have a sound technique, excellent musicianship, and strong sight-reading skills. Instructor permission must be satisfied through live audition of a prepared solo piece which demonstrates sufficient technical ability, musical maturity, sight reading skill, and collaborative flexibility .

At the beginning of each semester , the instructor will assign students to various ensemble combinations (duets, duos, trios, etc.) based on ability. Students will attend weekly lessons/coachings with instructor and will rehearse separately on their own.

introduce students to the intricacies of piano ensemble performance
familiarize students with the rich breadth of repertoire written for piano ensemble, from all representative classical periods and beyond
ensure successful performance that showcases individual student strengths and interests
