The Undergraduate nursing program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree. This major includes a broad foundation in physical, behavioral and social sciences.
Nursing courses for the Traditional Nursing Track (TBSN) are concentrated in the junior and senior years (upper division) of the four-year academic program and include, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. The Pre-Licensure Accelerated BSN is a 16-month intensive prelicensure nursing track for those who have already completed a prior bachelor’s degree. Successful completion of the traditional and accelerated (prelicensure) nursing track requirements and the awarding of a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree qualify the graduate to take the national NCLEX-RN examination for registered nurses. Students should apply for initial licensure in Virginia.
The RN-to-BSN track is for individuals who have been prepared for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) through an associate or diploma program. This program is offered online in a seven-week course format.
The nursing program has been approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing and has full national accreditation with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
