Theatre Major

All requirements for Theatre majors are outlined below. Students may elect to emphasize performance, design and technical theatre, cinema, or history and literature.

Core Curriculum Requirements (43-45 credits)

THEA 232 - Theatrical Lighting and Sound
THEA 236 - Makeup I
THEA 260 - Theatre Participation I (taken twice for a total of two credit hours)
THEA 330 - Theatre Design I
THEA 350 - Directing I
THEA 360 - Theatre Participation II

THEA 476 - Production Practicum (for a total of four credit hours)
THEA 374 - Survey of Drama
THEA 375 - Theatre History I
THEA 376 - Theatre History II

Theatre Electives for the Following Emphasis (9 credits)

All majors are required to complete nine additional semester hours of courses from the following emphases: performance, design and technical theatre, history and literature, or cinema.

B.S. Degree (8-9 credits)

Students seeking a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree program must complete 8-9 semester hours in the following areas:

CVPA Historical or analytical course chosen from: 3 credits

Non-CVPA Analytical course chosen from: 3 credits

CVPA Laboratory/performance course chosen from: 2-3 credits

Electives (18-26 credits)

Students should consult with their academic advisor in selecting elective courses to complete the 120 semester hours required for graduation.
