The minor in Emergency Services is open to all majors and provides an opportunity for students to learn critical thinking skills in the emergency environment, while exploring evidence-based practice modalities.

REAL Curriculum
This minor fulfills the R and L areas of the REAL Curriculum. This program allows students to explore patient care through research, evidence-based practice, and professional application. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the E and A areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements.
REAL Cornerstone Requirements
Writing Intensive (WI) Courses (6 credits)
Writing Intensive courses are denoted below with a (WI). Two writing intensive courses are required to graduate, with at least one at the 300- or 400-level. The Emergency Services minor includes 3 credits of writing intensive courses.
General Education Requirements
General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Emergency Services minor includes 8 general education credits.

Additional Information
Students may be eligible for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) by completing this minor.
Those whom are already EMT certified may be eligible for 8 credits through the “Credit By Exam” process. Please contact the program director for more information.
