Geology Minor (R)

The Geology Minor provides students with a broad background in Earth processes, materials, human interactions with Earth, and environmental topics such as climate change. The Earth is examined as interacting systems of rock, water, and air, with emphasis on Earth history and deep time. The minor provides foundational knowledge for further studies in a broad range of related fields which include economics, business, politics, geography, GIS, and anthropology.

REAL Curriculum


This minor fulfills the R area of the REAL Curriculum through examination of samples, maps, and field experience while using scientific and quantitative reasoning to solve geological problems from both theoretical and practical points of view.

General Education Requirements


General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Geology minor includes 8-12 general education credits.
