Archaeology and Prehistory Minor (R, A)

This minor serves to introduce students to the study of prehistory through archaeological methods and analysis. Students will be introduced to a broad overview of human prehistory and the methods used to study it and then choose from elective classes to explore the prehistory of cultural regions of interest to them.

REAL Curriculum
This minor fulfills the R and A areas of the REAL Curriculum. The R area is developed in the students in the minor through the exploration of how anthropologists answer questions about past populations and cultures. This includes both the exploration of the kinds of research questions, methods and techniques employed by the scientists in this field as well as analysis of relevant material culture and human skeletal material. The A area is developed in the students in this minor through the examination and exploration of different prehistoric cultures. A major focus of the major is understanding the context, consequences and interactions among cultures and behaviors. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the E and L areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements. General Education Requirements
General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements.
