Theatre Performance Minor (E)

Students who have a specific interest in performance (acting and directing) but who cannot commit to a second major may pursue a minor in Theatre Performance. This minor satisfies the E component of the REAL program and allows students to take a variety of theatre courses focused on acting and directing after satisfying the basic requirements of the minor.

REAL Curriculum
This minor fulfills the E area of the REAL Curriculum. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the R, A and L areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements. Students explore humanistic or artistic expression through inquiry or creativity and critically evaluate, synthesize, or create forms of human expression or inquiry through the Theatre and Cinema program. Students apply acquired knowledge and skills through a variety of courses that provide for the mastery of essential skills in performance and/or directing.
General Education Requirements
General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Theatre Performance includes 3-9 general education credits.
Minor Requirements (20 credits)

Students may earn a minor in Theatre Performance by completing the following twenty (20) credit hour requirements. They may will also fulfill the REAL E designation by choosing to complete this theatre minor:
Note(s):
* THEA 260 is a one-credit hour course that can be taken multiple times for credit. Students must repeat this course twice to fulfill a two-hour requirement.

Theatre Electives (6 credits)
Six (6) additional credit hours may be chosen from any Theatre courses.
Total Credit Hours for Minor 20
Additional Information
Students on academic probation at the beginning of a semester will not be cast or hold a major design, management or crew position beyond registered class requirements during that semester.
Theatre minors are invited to attend monthly departmental meetings held the first Monday of each month.
