REAL Studies Minor in Scientific and Quantitative Reasoning (R)

A minimum of 15 credits in courses designated “R” within the REAL Curriculum, with at least 3 credits at the 300-400 level. Coursework must include classes with at least 2 different prefixes. Students cannot cross-credit courses to simultaneously complete both this minor and a traditional minor/certificate. Students are allowed to cross-credit courses from the R Studies minor with major programs if permissible by the major.
The “R” designation of a course is granted by the REAL Council, and published in the course catalog. “R” designated courses cover mathematics, natural science, and/or related areas.
R (Scientific and Quantitative Reasoning) Area Courses:
Learning Goal: To apply scientific and quantitative reasoning to questions about the natural world, mathematics, or related areas.
Learning Outcomes:
- Students apply scientific and quantitative information to test problems and draw conclusions.
- Students evaluate the quality of data, methods, or inferences used to generate scientific and quantitative knowledge.
