COMS 499 - Communication Internship Credits: (1-6) Prerequisites: COMS 130 (with a grade of “C” or better), COMS 330 (with a grade of “C” or better), and any one of the following: COMS 235 , COMS 104 , COMS 223 , COMS 247 , or permission of instructor; 75 hours of college credit completed, and in good academic standing with a minimum of 2.0 GPA in the major. The instructor must approve a written internship proposal, and a signed formal agreement with the internship site supervisor must be on file in the Registrar’s Office and the School of Communication. The internship is a capstone experience in which students apply knowledge and skill learned in the classroom under the supervision of a communication professional in an approved organization. Applications and policy statements are available from the instructor and on the School of Communication website. Students must consult with their academic advisor before applying and interviewing for internships, obtain school approval, and meet application deadlines.
