The Special Education minor provides students the opportunity to learn specialized knowledge about the diversity of people with learning differences. This minor is beneficial for students planning for careers in school systems and other human service fields.

REAL Curriculum
This minor fulfills the A area of the REAL curriculum. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the R, E, and L areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements. Through coursework in the Special Education Minor, students will develop abilities to describe and analyze the interactions among factors related to the social institution of school and children’s success in school.
General Education Requirements
General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Special Education minor includes 3 general education credits.

Additional Information
Some courses available in the minor have additional prerequisites. Students must work with a faculty advisor in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership to choose courses from the approved list.
