Social Justice Minor (E, A)

The Social Justice Minor provides interdisciplinary exploration into understanding and working towards social justice. The minor explores social justice from a variety of disciplines, voices, and perspectives. Students have the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills to reduce oppression and inequity and utilize critical thinking to challenge bias. A social justice minor complements a variety of disciplines, offering the graduate practical skills and knowledge applicable to everyday life.

REAL Curriculum


The Social Justice minor will require students to complete 18 credit hours of course work, a minimum of 9 credits in designated ‘E’ courses and 9 credits in designated ‘A’ courses within the REAL curriculum. In E designated courses, students will engage in course work that requires understanding diverse ideas and perspectives. Students will be asked to critically reflect, evaluate and synthesize information on diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. For A designated courses, students will describe behaviors, beliefs, values, societal engagements, and cultural environments relating to social justice. Students will also be asked to analyze the choices and behaviors of groups, as it relates to striving for social justice.

General Education Requirements


General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Social Justice minor includes 3-6 general education credits.
