Science Communication Minor (R, E)


This minor will help students learn about proper communication of scientific information and discoveries. It is aimed for both science students interested in learning more effective means of communication about science, as well as for non-science students who want a background in science to better communicate scientific discoveries to a broad audience. This minor fulfills the R and E areas under the REAL curriculum.

REAL Curriculum


This minor fulfills the R and E areas of the REAL Curriculum. Students will get training in science based courses, as well as in communication and expression through their English and Communication classes. Students need majors and/or minors to fulfill the A and L areas to complete the REAL Curriculum requirements.

REAL Cornerstone Requirements


Writing Intensive (WI) Courses (6 credits)


Writing Intensive courses are denoted below with a (WI). Two writing intensive courses are required to graduate, with at least one at the 300- or 400-level. The Science Communication minor includes 3-6 credits of writing intensive courses.

General Education Requirements


General Education courses will be denoted below with a (GE). Students are required to take at least 30 credit hours of general education designated courses within their degree requirements. The Science Communication minor includes 6-18 general education credits.

Choose at least three credits from the following courses.

Additional Science Electives (6 credits)


Take at least six credit hours from the following courses. If a lower division course was used to satisfy the General Science Elective, then at least three credits must be at the 300-level or higher.
